In December I travelled to Pisa in Italy for a short break before Christmas. There is not much to do in Pisa apart from climb the Leaning Tower but just an easy train ride away is Cinque Terre – somewhere I had always wanted to visit from the first time I saw that iconic photo of the village of Manarola. Just before Christmas I was in Washington DC for work and had the opportunity to visit the Smithsonian National Zoo and see their Christmas event called Zoolights for myself. During the event which takes place in the evenings from the end of November and throughout December, over half a million LED lights are used to decorate the entire zoo. (more…)
