Suomenlinna (Sveaborg in Swedish) is a sea fortress located in Helsinki harbour and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Suomenlinna has a long history and was originally built by the Swedes in 1748 as a defence against a Russian attack. Over the years it has been controlled by Sweden, Russia and Finland and it is now one of the main attractions in Helsinki and one of the most popular places to visit when in Finland. (more…)

Out of all the travelling that I have done within Europe during the last few years, the train journey from Helsinki Vantaa Airport to Helsinki city centre is definitely one of the easiest, cheapest as well as one of the most user-friendly forms of transportation I have ever used and is by far the best way to travel after arriving in Helsinki. Gibraltar is a small British Overseas Territory located across the border from the city of La Línea de la Concepción on the southern coast of Spain. Gibraltar covers an area of only 2.6 square miles (most of which is the famous Rock of Gibraltar) and has a population of approximately 32000 people as well as over 300 Barbary Macaque monkeys who are its most famous residents.
