On the second sea day on our Disney Wonder cruise from Hawaii to Vancouver, I woke up at 7:30am after a good night’s sleep. I had been looking forward to this day since the cruise began as we had both brunch at Palo booked as well as Pirate Night to look forward to. It was a little cloudy out and we could see from watching the Bridge Report on the stateroom television that the outside temperature would start dropping quickly the following day so we knew we had to make the most of the good weather while it lasted. On the sixth day of our Disney Wonder Hawaii cruise, the third part of our epic and long awaited trip began as it was the first of our five days at sea as we sailed across the Pacific Ocean towards Vancouver. After staying at Aulani followed by a busy few days sailing and sightseeing around the islands from Oahu to Maui, the Big Island and Kauai, a relaxing day of finally doing absolutely nothing was very welcome and very much needed. On the second day of our overnight stay in the Port of Nawiliwili on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, I woke up feeling great after having the best and longest night’s sleep of the trip so far. As I had sadly lost our game of basketball the night before, it was my job to go and get the tea from the drink station on Deck 9 which we drank whilst sitting on our verandah. It was such a beautiful morning and as we sat talking we also realised that neither of us had any idea what day of week it was which was such a great sign as it meant we were truly enjoying every minute of our time in Hawaii and had been able to completely switch off and forget about the outside world. A week after we arrived in Hawaii for the very first time, we were finally getting used to the time difference and were sleeping much better. It felt great to be able to have a much needed lay in on this day and have a lazier start to the morning as we were not due to dock in Nawiliwili on the island of Kauai until 10:00am. It was also noticable that there had been a lot less movement on the ship overnight compared to the previous few days which was very welcome. (more…)

On the third day of our Disney Wonder cruise, I woke up just after 6:00am ready for our day in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. Due to our long day in Maui the day before, I had slept well despite there being a lot of movement on the ship overnight. After having a cup of tea and getting dressed, we walked up to a busy Cabanas and enjoyed our breakfast with a view of Hilo Harbor as we were docking. It looked to be the start of a beautiful day outside with both blue and grey skies surrounding us. (more…)
