1. Disney Dream Double Dip Halloween on the High Seas Bahamas Cruise: Day Four – At Sea

The title of this blog will immediately give away the answer of whether or not we made it to Castaway Cay in the Bahamas for the second time on our Halloween on the High Seas “Double Dip” cruise onboard the Disney Dream – but yes we did miss our stop on Disney’s private island that day as we were unable to dock due to Hurricane Ian which I had predicted earlier in the cruise. 2. Disney Dream Double Dip Halloween on the High Seas Bahamas Cruise: Day Two – Castaway Cay

On the first full day of our Disney Dream Halloween on the High Seas “Double Dip” cruise to Castaway Cay and Nassau I woke up just before 6:00am after sleeping solidly for over eight hours. As the air conditioning in our stateroom was working so well, the first thing I did as soon as I got out of bed was put all of our cameras and lenses onto the table outside on the verandah so they had plenty of time to acclimatise to the September heat and humidity before we reached Castaway Cay that morning – the last thing we wanted was for them to steam up when we wanted to take some photos. We sat out on our verandah chatting with a cup of tea as the sun came up and it really was a perfect way to start the day. (more…)

  3. The Ultimate Guide to Disney’s Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay (pronounced Key) is Disney Cruise Line’s private island in the Bahamas and is the highlight of the majority of Disney cruises. The only way you can visit Castaway Cay is to take a Disney Cruise and even if not a beach person like myself, you will find it a little piece of paradise. The palm trees, blue skies (most of the time), crystal clear water and beautiful white sand beaches make it a perfect place to relax. I have written this guide to Castaway Cay to tell you everything you need to know before your visit. (more…)

  4. Disney Dream Halloween on the High Seas Cruise: Day Four – At Sea

Once again after not enough sleep, I woke up early about 6:30am. I wish I could have slept in later as I knew that the following morning when we disembarked would be another early start. Today was our last full day onboard and we were going to be at sea for the whole day. A better description would be that we were going to floating around like a cork with minimal engine power close to Freeport for the majority of the day before finally heading back towards Port Canaveral in the evening. (more…)

  5. Disney Dream Halloween on the High Seas Cruise: Day Two – Nassau, Bahamas

After a few solid hours of sleep, I woke up early at 6:55am. I tried going back to sleep but that was never going to happen. After sitting in bed with some tea and watching the Good Morning Disney Dream show on the television, I looked out of the window to see that we were approaching Nassau. It looked very stormy outside with lots of grey clouds to be seen and we were also treated to the sight of a beautiful rainbow. (more…)

  6. Disney Magic Transatlantic Cruise: Day Eleven – Castaway Cay

To say that I was excited when I woke up would be an understatement – after many years, today was the day that I would finally get to visit Castaway Cay. Despite waking early for the whole cruise, I had set my alarm clock to be on the safe side so I could watch our arrival. At 6:30am I went out onto our verandah and it was an incredibly beautiful morning and in the distance we could see land for the first time since leaving Funchal a week earlier. (more…)
