Disney Wish Deluxe Verandah Stateroom Tour
Earlier this year I sailed Back to Back (two consecutive cruises in a row) onboard the Disney Wish and spent an incredible seven nights enjoying this beautiful new ship. For both of our cruises we were able to book the same stateroom which was 8654 – a Category 5B “Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah” cabin located on Deck 8 Aft of the Disney Wish.
Whilst the staterooms onboard the Disney Wish have a very similar layout to those onboard the other four Disney Cruise Line ships, they have completely different decor as well as some new features. I took plenty of photos of our stateroom to include in this review, blog post and travel guide to show all of the details and information that you need to know.
Our photo tour begins at the elevators and stairs located Aft on Deck 8. A great navigation tip to know when sailing onboard the Disney Wish is that the decor around the elevators and stairs in the Aft of the ship are coloured blue and is themed to an Enchanted Castle whilst the forward area is green and themed to an Enchanted Forest. So when you want to get to this stateroom or any of the others in this area, make sure to use the blue coloured elevators or stairs as it will be a long walk from the opposite end of the ship otherwise.

Stateroom 8654 is located on the starboard side of the ship and a great tip when picking your stateroom is to choose a location that is surrounded by other cabins on all sides (including above and below you) as this will help to avoid any unwanted noise from bars, restaurants, entertainment venues and other public areas at all times during the day as well as at late at night and very early in the morning. Deck 8 is located half way between the Grand Hall and the pool decks making it a perfect location to stay onboard the Disney Wish.
Whilst walking along the corridors where the staterooms are located you can spot Hidden Mickeys in the carpet which point forward to let you know which way you facing onboard the ship. The lights also project patterns onto the ceiling around them and are themed to whichever deck you are standing on at the time.

All of the door plaques on Decks 8 and 9 feature the owl from Sleeping Beauty (one of the two different stateroom themes on these two decks – the other is Princess and the Frog) and this is where you will find your Key to the World cards in a sealed envelope on embarkation day.

As you enter this stateroom, the wardrobes are located on the right side and the doors to the two bathrooms are on the left. You will find the emergency instructions on the back of the door and the Muster Station for Stateroom 8654 onboard the Disney Wish is “U” which is located inside the Worlds of Marvel restaurant on Deck 4 Aft.
There is also a slot on the wall to place your Key to the World card which will activate the power for the lights, air conditioning and television in the stateroom. A simple panel to operate the air conditioning is also on the wall and there is also a boost button which works brilliantly when you need to cool the stateroom down quickly.

The wardrobe is split into three different sections – two of which are hanging spaces where your lifejackets are also located and the central area contains shelves as well as a drawer-style safety deposit box. As this stateroom only sleeps three people there is no ladder stored in the wardrobe as there is no bunk bed that pulls down from the ceiling.
I have read a lot of criticism online about the lack of drawers in the staterooms onboard the Disney Wish but this was honestly not ever an issue for us as we use packing cubes in our luggage when we travel and we simply placed each of these directly onto the shelves inside the wardrobe where they were easily accessible during our week onboard. I always read that people pack extra hangers for the wardrobes as well but there really is no need as you can just ask your Stateroom Host or Hostess for more if needed.
Another feature that is unique to the Disney Wish is that there are bathrobes provided in all of the staterooms (they are only in Concierge staterooms on the other ships) to use onboard but be aware that you cannot take these home with you as there will be a charge. There is also a laundry bag located in the wardrobe which you will also be charged for should you decide to take it home as a souvenir.
Stateroom 8654 connects to stateroom 8656 and the interconnecting door is located next to the wardrobe and opposite the bed.

The majority of staterooms onboard the Disney Wish feature split bathrooms where one room has a toilet and a sink whilst the other contains a bathtub, shower and sink which allows multiple people to get ready at the same time.
The bathroom with the toilet features H2O Sea Salt Hand Wash as well as a brilliant night light switch – another new feature of the Disney Wish which is very handy in a dark stateroom in the middle of the night.

In the second bathroom, the powerful shower and bathtub has a screen door which is so much better than the curtain onboard the other ships and on the shelves there are large bottles of H2O Sea Salt Body Wash as well as H2O Sea Marine Shampoo and a separate Conditioner – though I would always recommend taking your own products with you (as I do) in case the ones provided are not suitable for your hair or skin.
There are towels available everywhere you look and you can also find hooks on the walls to hang your bathrobes as well as any towels once you have used them. There is also plenty of counter space by the sink where we were both able to store our washbags and there is also a bar of H2O Sea Salt Facial Soap and a large bottle of H2O Sea Salt Body Lotion in this bathroom.
There is also a retractable washing line above the bathtub which is handy to hang any wet swimwear on to dry and there is a full length mirror on the inside of the bathroom door.

The bed is the same amazingly comfortable and dreamlike bed that is found onboard all of the other ships and there is a nightstand with a small drawer as well as a lamp and reading light on each side. There is also more than enough space underneath the bed to be able to store all of your luggage away and out of sight during the entire cruise.
There is a large flat panel television located on the wall directly opposite the bed which I thought was the perfect place for it to be which I know a lot of families will disagree with but not everyone onboard Disney Cruise Line travels with children. I absolutely loved that I could sit in bed watching a movie without having to crane my neck to the side and squint and strain my eyes to see a much smaller television further down the room which I do not enjoy doing on the other ships.

The details continue with the bedding which has small Hidden Mickeys woven into the linen as well as a delicate filigree pattern around the edge of the pillowcases – the same pattern becomes visible in the lampshades on each side of the bed when the lights are switched on. There is also a beautiful pink and grey Disney Wish blanket throw along the foot of the bed.

As the Disney Wish is a brand new cruise ship, there are plenty of power sockets located throughout the stateroom as well as on each side of the bed. One side of the bed has two US outlets, two USB-A ports as well as one USB-C port whilst the other side of the bed has one European outlet and two USB-A ports.
However no matter where you are from or travel to, it is always advisable to bring a travel adaptor with you so that you always have access to power – remember that you might need one if staying in a hotel before or after the cruise.

As already mentioned all of the staterooms on both Decks 8 and 9 are themed to either Princess and the Frog or Sleeping Beauty but the theming is very subtle and not in your face at all. Stateroom 8654 is themed to Princess and the Frog and the mural above the bed featuring the wedding of Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen in the Bayou was absolutely beautiful and even had flecks of gold in it which sparkled when the light hit it at the right angle.

There is a curtain in the centre of the room which can separate the room into two areas and the sofa can be converted to a bed for a third person to sleep however Stateroom 8654 can only sleep three people as it does not have the pull down bunk bed from the ceiling to accommodate a fourth person. Next to the sofa is a small coffee table and there is also another Princess and the Frog print on the wall.

There is more storage space along the various shelves and in the drawers of the desk area and this is where you will find a powerful hairdryer along with a protective mat to place any heated hair stylers on to avoid damaging the surface of the desk. There is also a drawer-style refrigerator with dividers that you can change or remove completely to create more space where you can chill any drinks that you have brought onboard with you.
Other features in this area include a light up mirror which is perfect for doing make up and all of the light switches by the desk are labelled which makes a huge difference compared to the staterooms onboard the other ships. There are also more power sockets located here which are two US outlets, one European outlet, four USB-A ports and one USB-C port.
The telephone is tucked away on a shelf instead of taking up precious nightstand space which is so much better and there is also a waste bin on a small raised shelf underneath the side of the desk which means it is out of the way so you are not tripping over it in the middle of the night!

As on all of the other Disney Cruise Line ships, access to the verandah is via a very heavy sliding door and there is also a child lock located high up out of reach for added safety.
Once on the verandah there are two chairs and a table which are perfect for sitting outside in the sunshine, enjoying the sunsets at sea or even looking out across the ocean below in the evening with a drink in hand. As Stateroom 8654 is on the starboard side of the Disney Wish, you will also get a picture postcard view of Castaway Cay from your balcony when you are docked there.

Our stateroom onboard the Disney Wish was truly perfect for us and being able to stay there for two cruises in a row was even sweeter. We found it to be a perfect location to stay onboard the ship and we also did not hear any foot traffic outside our room at any time throughout our entire week onboard.
We once made the mistake of booking an oceanview cabin onboard the Disney Dream but we will now only book a verandah stateroom onboard any ship as having your own outdoor space to enjoy the peace and quiet as well as fresh air and the view out to sea on a very busy ship that currently only sails short three and four night cruises is definitely worth every penny.
