1. How to Plan an Epic Route 66 Road Trip

    Route 66 which is also known as the Mother Road and the Main Street of America stretches 2448 miles across eight states from Chicago in Illinois to Santa Monica in California and is the ultimate bucket list road trip for many people.     The iconic Wigwam Motel located in the town of Holbrook in Arizona along Historic Route 66 had been on my bucket list of places that I had wanted to stay at for a very long time.   3. A Guide To Visiting Pioneertown in California

    On our recent trip to California I was looking for things to do whilst we spent a few days in Palm Springs when I noticed a place called Pioneertown on the map. I was immediately intrigued so I had to find out more. Pioneertown is an old Wild West town hidden out in the desert close to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park making it incredibly easy to visit and a perfect side trip when visiting the area.     The Dyker Heights Christmas Lights are truly a must see when visiting New York during the festive season.  The neighbourhood is one of the most Christmassy places you will ever see with so many houses covered with thousands of lights and I have wanted to visit for such a long time.  So this week I made it my mission to finally visit when I was in New York for one night for work and it was completely worth the trip to Brooklyn.   9. Visiting the Tabasco Factory Tour and Museum – Avery Island, Louisiana

    One of the places I was most looking forward to on our road trip from Atlanta to Galveston last November was the Tabasco Factory and Museum which is located on Avery Island in Louisiana. I love Tabasco and usually have several bottles of the holy grail of hot sauces in the kitchen cupboard at home – the Garlic Pepper one being my favourite. When we were planning our road trip, we decided to stay in Lafayette the evening before our visit as it was not only close to the I-10 but also only a short forty minute drive to Avery Island itself.   10. The World’s Largest Peanut – Ashburn, Georgia

    After a short stay in Orlando after our cruise on the Disney Dream last year, we had to drive to Atlanta to fly back home. The drive although easy is very long so I found myself doing my usual thing of seeing if there were any random roadside oddities to try and break up the journey. Our luck was in as next to the I-75 in the town of Ashburn in Georgia is the World’s Largest Peanut! (more…)
