The beautiful and fair city of Verona in Italy which is well known to many around the world as the setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet has so much more to offer than just a tragic love story. The city’s historic centre – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – is filled with historic castles and incredible architecture throughout and unlike the crowded streets of Rome, Florence or nearby Venice, Verona also feels so much more relaxed which makes it a perfect spot to explore Italy at a much slower pace. Hidden away in the heart of Italy is the Republic of San Marino (Repubblica di San Marino) which is the fifth smallest country in the world and the third smallest country in Europe. It is somewhere that had always been on my list of places that I wanted to visit and earlier this month in March 2025 I finally got there and in turn, San Marino became the 72nd country for me to visit. Gibraltar is a small British Overseas Territory located across the border from the city of La Línea de la Concepción on the southern coast of Spain. Gibraltar covers an area of only 2.6 square miles (most of which is the famous Rock of Gibraltar) and has a population of approximately 32000 people as well as over 300 Barbary Macaque monkeys who are its most famous residents. Venice is one of the most beautiful and unique cities anywhere in the whole world. This city made up 118 islands and 400 bridges is a fairytale world like nowhere else on earth and somewhere you have to visit at least once in your lifetime. However Venice has become a victim of its own popularity and in recent years has suffered from massive overtourism. Visiting Venice when busy and crowded is not fun and you could very easily leave hating the city that you wanted to visit so much. (more…)

Anyone who knows me knows that I like to travel as much and as often as I can – well until this year when a global pandemic stopped all travel around the world and clipped my wings temporarily. New York City also known as the Big Apple is larger than life and the “City that Never Sleeps” and somewhere that everyone should visit once in their lifetime. I have lost count at the number of times I have visited the city over the years and in that time I have seen people on their first trips making so many mistakes that could have easily been avoided. Road trips are one of my favourite ways to travel and to explore the USA. The freedom of being out on the open road and the incredible feeling of having control over what you see, where you stop, where you stay and how long your each of your days are is simply one of the best ways that you can get to see so much of a country that you might not have been able to see otherwise. Visiting Japan for the first time can seem to be a daunting and overwhelming experience when planning your trip. Everything seems so new, so confusing and so different to what you’re used to and it feels like there is a lot of information to take in. My recent trip to Havana was not my first visit to Cuba – I was last in Havana back in the summer of 2005 and sadly due to a hurricane passing the island, I did not get to see anything and because of this, I do not remember too much about my stay at all hence why on my latest visit in March 2019, I was determined to see as much of Havana as I could in the three days that I was there.
