Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Cruise: Day Six – At Sea
Despite wanting a good night’s sleep after two busy days in Tortola and St Thomas on our Eastern Caribbean cruise, I woke up so many times throughout the night due to the noise from our stateroom shaking caused by the vibrations at the aft of the Disney Fantasy. One easy solution to stop some of the noise was to keep both bathroom doors open as they were rattling in the door frames when they were shut. Thankfully I fell back asleep quickly each time I woke up and eventually managed to sleep until 8:00am.
Sea days are my favourite part of cruising and I could not wait to have a relaxed day onboard. We sat in bed with a cup of tea each and a croissant to share as we did not want our usual breakfast in Cabanas as we had brunch booked at Palo instead at 10:00am. Until we needed to get ready, we sat on our verandah and enjoyed the view as it was a beautiful day outside.

At 9:45am, we made our way to Deck 12 Aft but before heading into Palo, we actually went into Remy. When we had dined there earlier in the cruise, we had asked if we could visit during the day to take some photos of the little Swarovski Remy overlooking the restaurant and they suggested that before our Palo brunch would be an ideal time. It was perfect as Remy was not open at this time and the reason we not take any photos of the restaurant when we dined there is we did not want to disturb any of the other diners.
It was great to be able to see all the details in Remy including the wine bottles as well as the face of Remy in the chair upholstery. It was also so nice to see the wonderful staff in Remy again and thank them once more for our incredible dinner there that neither of us will ever forget. I also asked if they would be able to let us know what one of the dishes we had was as I had forgotten to write it down and they said they would print a copy of the menu for us.

Once we arrived at Palo, we were introduced to Carole from Brazil who would be our server who took us to a table next to the window with a beautiful view overlooking the ocean. No sooner had we sat down than one of the staff from Remy found us and handed us each a personalised menu from our dinner earlier in the cruise. It was such a beautiful gesture and something which we will always remember.

Carole brought us both a glass of water with lemon before offering us a complimentary Prosecco, Mimosa or Kir Royale. The Palo brunch menu had not changed since our previous visit and I was once again incredibly happy that they can still make the amazing Grape and Gorgonzola Pizza that was one of the most popular items they served until they took it off the menu. My boyfriend ordered the Lasagne Bolognaise and after loving the Artichoke Ravioli so much on my last cruise, I knew that I had to order that as well as the pizza to share between us.
Carole then took us both on a tour of all the food tables explaining everything in detail that was available. I always think the food looks so perfect and there is so much I want to try. As usual, I always prefer to make several visits and have a few small plates of food rather than everything all on one plate.
I decided to have a small seafood course before having a small antipasti course as I wanted to have room to be able to enjoy the rest of my food. The Grape and Gorgonzola Pizza was delicious as always and the Artichoke Ravioli was every bit as beautiful as I remembered.

Despite not really having a sweet tooth most of the time, I cannot resist the desserts in Palo as they are just so small and perfect that I want to try so many of them. I had the Tiramisu, a Chocolate Strawberry, Cappuccino Panna Cotta (incredible), Strawberry Panna Cotta, Champagne Berries and a Strawberry Tart. I loved them all except for the Tiramisu (which I usually enjoy the most) as it was actually made with custard instead of cream like it should be and usually is. I also ordered a Jasmine Tea to finish the meal.

We left Palo at 12:30pm and it had been a perfect way to spend two and a half hours. Since our last cruise, the price for brunch at Palo has increased to $40 per person but this has not put us off one bit. We enjoy it so much that it will once again be one of the first things we book on our next cruise.
We walked down four decks to our stateroom to change our clothes before walking to the lobby atrium to watch the Character Dance Party which was due to start at 1:00pm. Minnie, Mickey, Chip and Dale, Goofy, Pluto, Donald and Daisy soon arrived and danced to Handclap, Walking on Sunshine, Dancing Queen, Everybody Dance Now, Danza Kuduro, Live While We’re Young, Hey Baby and Can’t Stop the Feeling.

After having so much fun the previous day, we walked up to Deck 5 to sign up for the Midship Detective Agency and play the “The Case of the Stolen Show” with the Muppets. We figured out that walking all around the ship would be a good way to help walk off all the food we had just eaten in Palo.
One again, it took about thirty minutes to solve the case and I do not remember laughing as much as I did in a long time. I would recommend playing the Midship Detective Agency with the Muppets to anyone as it was so funny – even just the fact that Camilla the Chicken hated it everytime Gonzo said Aquaduck made me laugh like crazy!
The one big tip I will give to anyone playing this game is to take a photo (like it suggests in the casebook) of Pepe’s stateroom door on Deck 5 and the Muppet Callboard outside the Buena Vista Theatre on Deck 4 as you will need to refer to them several times throughout the game. If you have a photo to look at then you will save yourself a lot of extra walking.

After we had finished playing the Midship Detective Agency, I bought a Latte from the Vista Cafe and we sat outside on the sun loungers in the shade on Deck 4. This is one of our favourite places to sit on a sea day as it is so peaceful and calm and the perfect way to spend an hour.

After a rest and a walk around Deck 4, we walked past Preludes where Goofy had been out since 4:00pm but he was there all by himself and no one was waiting to meet him. We got a photo with him and as there was still no one else in sight, Goofy started giving us a fashion show as only he could. I love him so much.

One of the things we knew we had to do on this cruise was to visit Sweet on You so we took the elevator up to Deck 11 after meeting Goofy. You can sample any of the ice cream and sorbet flavours before you buy and I decided to get both the Mango as well as the Raspberry Sorbet. I paid $5 for two scoops in a bowl and both were absolutely delicious and completely worth the upcharge. I also loved the decor inside Sweet on You especially Mickey and Minnie sharing an ice cream at the table by the window.

We spent the next two hours back in our stateroom and enjoying the view from our giant verandah. I’m still so happy that I saw it available online one night and was able to swap from our original stateroom that we booked a few doors away. Having this space to ourselves really was amazing and it was one of my favourite places to be whilst on the Disney Fantasy. After having a shower and getting ready for the evening, we walked around Deck 4 as it was such a perfect evening out.

As it was semi-formal night, the characters were wearing the same costumes as they had been on formal night earlier in the cruise and we noticed that Chip and Dale were going to be meeting in the lobby atrium at 7:45pm. As we had not yet met either of them on this cruise (they had not been out much at all), we got in line a few minutes early which I’m glad we did as the line got extremely long. This was one of the only busy lines that we waited in for the entire cruise but I did not mind as meeting Chip and Dale is always such fun no matter where you are in the world.

After meeting Chip and Dale, we walked to Animator’s Palate for dinner which I had been looking forward to for the whole cruise at it was Animation Magic night. As suggested by both Xavier and Tanya the evening before, we got there a few minutes early so we had extra time to draw our characters before having dinner. As this was the first time we had dined in Animator’s Palate on this cruise (we had dinner in Remy on the first night we would have dined in there), we had no idea where our table was located in the restaurant. Both of us were completely gobsmacked when we were shown to our table which was located right in front of one of the giant screens as we would have a perfect view of the show. It would also have been a perfect table for the Turtle Talk with Crush show if we had dined there earlier in the cruise.
After drawing our characters we ordered our food and as well as having an appetiser (I had the delicious Porcini Sachetti), we both had an Indian main course as our server Xavier had been asking us throughout the cruise to let him know if we wanted to have some Indian food for our dinner. We’ve had the curry before when we’ve cruised and we always enjoy it every single time and this night was no exception. Whilst you are eating, the screens show a montage of food-related clips from different Disney movies.

Just after having our dessert delivered (I had the Cappuccino Mousse), Mickey appears on the screens around the restaurant and brings all of the drawings to life. Even though this was the third time we’ve done the Animation Magic dinner, I still loved it just as much as the first time all the way back in 2015 when we sailed on the Disney Magic.

Another thing that I loved on this night was as we were in no rush to be anywhere, it was nice to be able to take our time and look at all the different details around the restaurant which we did not have a chance to see when we sailed on the Disney Dream.

Our main goal on this night was to ride the Aquaduck after dinner as it was open most evenings on this cruise until 11:00pm. It was also extremely quiet at this time and I think we rode it three or four times in a row each with very little wait. It was just as much fun riding it in the dark and I loved all the disco lights all the way around.

After riding the Aquaduck, we grabbed a cup of tea before heading back to our stateroom. One of the first things I did was to carefully pack away our Animator’s Palate drawings – I bring a cardboard folder on every cruise to keep everything flat and undamaged and to make it easier to travel home. Our tip envelopes as well as luggage tags (we did not need these however as we always do Express Walk-Off) had also been left for us ready for the next day. I also remembered that I had not picked up a Personal Navigator yet for the next day so quickly ran down to Deck 3 to collect one.

The vibration at the aft of the Disney Fantasy was still bad (as it had been throughout the entire day) but thankfully it did not stop us from falling asleep. It really had been a perfect relaxing day at sea and we were both looking forward to being back at Castaway Cay the following morning!
