1. Dining at Enchanté on the Disney Wish as a Vegetarian

Enchanté onboard the brand new Disney Wish is a fine dining adult-only restaurant with menus by three Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement of L’Assisette Champenoise near Reims in France who also created the menus for Remy onboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

As we had both loved our dinner at Remy on the Disney Fantasy back in 2019, as soon as Enchanté was announced we immediately knew that we wanted to book the Disney Wish as soon as possible so that we could have dinner there. As we were sailing on back to back cruises on the Disney Wish, we decided to book Enchanté on the first night of our second cruise (so that we could enjoy all of the rotational restaurants on the first cruise without having to miss one out) and we had no trouble making a reservation when our booking window opened – in fact we could book for any night that we wanted as all times were available.

As soon as the Disney Wish set sail last year I had been researching as much as I could about Enchanté and there were some very mixed reviews however I simply put this down to it being a brand new ship and as always with something so new and different, there are usually some small issues and teething problems that need to be sorted which is one of the main reasons why we waited six months before sailing – we had no need to be first onboard for the bragging rights like so many did. Spoiler alert – dinner at Enchanté was absolutely incredible. It is a beautiful restaurant and the food is just sublime and the service is impeccable and it does not deserve some of the earlier reviews that it received. I will rave about my dinner to anyone who will listen for many years to come!

Enchanté offers a tasting menu so as with our meal at Remy, I visited Enchanté the evening before we dined there to let them know in advance that I do not eat meat. We were also reminded of the dress code which has been relaxed since the last time we dined at Remy but we still wanted to dress up so we had both brought clothes and shoes with us just for this one night onboard. If you cannot get dressed up for an occasion and an experience like this, when can you?

Our reservation for Enchanté was at 7:30pm so after not eating anything all afternoon, we made our way a few minutes early to Deck 12 Aft to The Rose where both Enchanté and Palo Steakhouse are located. This whole area of the ship is inspired by Beauty and the Beast (one of my favourite films) with Enchanté inspired by Lumiere and Palo Steakhouse inspired by Cogsworth and is a complete oasis of calm on an otherwise busy ship. However the theming in each venue is so subtle that you would barely know that you are on a Disney ship let alone next to the Hero Zone or close to the Aquamouse!

We walked down a long hallway from The Rose that leads to Enchanté and were introduced to maître extraordinaire Lumiere who is hanging from one of the light fixtures and who guided us towards the entrance of Enchanté and who keeps a careful watch over the restaurant at all times.

As you enter Enchanté, the first thing you notice is the beautiful and bright chandelier with 397 glowing and flickering gold champagne bubbles which is a reference to Chef Arnaud Lallement who is from the Champagne region of France. Along with the bottles of wine on display are also a collection of different candelabras in honour of Lumiere. Whilst Remy is decorated in a more dark and traditional style, Enchanté is very bright (as it should be with Lumiere in charge) with lots of whites, golds and pale blues used throughout.

We were guided to our table by the window which would be perfect for a Caribbean sunset however as it was January, it was already dark outside which is one of the only downsides to cruising in winter. However as it was dark all of the lights in the restaurant were glowing and the atmosphere was intimate and perfect.

We were also introduced to Anthony who was our incredible server for the evening who suggested a glass of champagne to begin our dining experience which sounded a perfect idea. Luis the wonderful sommelier at Enchanté explained all the champagnes that were available (as well as the price for each one) and I chose a glass of the Tattinger Brut Prestige Rosé and we also ordered a bottle of the Hilden sparkling water.

Anthony also asked us if we had any other plans for the evening to which we replied we did not. We had the whole evening to savour and enjoy our meal at Enchanté which is the way it should be. Dining at Enchanté was what we had been looking forward to since we had booked to sail on the Disney Wish so nothing else mattered – it was also a great feeling knowing that we had done everything else that we wanted to on the first cruise of our back to back sailings so now we could just sit back and enjoy everything about the experience. You can expect dinner at Enchanté to take at least three hours as otherwise you are not giving the food the time and respect that it deserves. It is not a dinner that you should rush through as you will simply not enjoy it otherwise.

To begin our meal Anthony brought out a plate of beautiful canapés which consisted of a Comté cheese tartlet with a cauliflower vinaigrette, a herb and yogurt tartlet as well as a falafel with a lemon drop on top. We ate each of them in that order (which Anthony suggested to us) and each one was delicious but my absolute favourite was the falafel which had a light crunch on the outside and yet was so light and fluffy and still warm on the inside. All of the canapés were so perfect and a wonderful glimpse of what was still to come.

After finishing our canapés, the menu for the evening was brought out and placed on the stand that was on the table in front of each of us. There are three different options you can choose from – the nine course Collection menu, the five course Passion menu as well as items that you can order à la carte.

We each chose the Passion menu as even though it is only five courses, it is actually a lot more once all of the extra dishes between courses (such as the amuse-bouche and cheese) have been brought out and I remember how full I had been when we dined in Remy – there was no way I would ever be able to eat all of those extra courses on top of that!

Anthony also asked if either of us had any dislikes and I said no as even though there are some foods that I do not like, I wanted to be open to trying something new – little did I realise at the time, but that is exactly what would happen that evening!

The bread was just as good as I remembered from Remy and it is freshly baked onboard the ship each day using dough that is made in France and served with Normandy butter and sea salt. I could have very happily eaten more but I knew that it would quickly fill me up especially as we still had our whole meal to come.

Our amuse-bouche arrived shortly afterwards which was called “Miel” (Honey in French) which was lemon confit, beeswax syphon and edible flowers with a delicate rice flour tuile which was brought out on a separate plate so that it remained crisp until it was placed in the bowl – the presentation and attention to detail was beautiful and it tasted delicious.

Our first course was “Tomate” which was a tomato filled with peppers and olives that had been slow cooked in butter for twelve hours served with focaccia bread and tomato vinaigrette as well as a glass of tomato water with tomato water ice cubes. Anthony told us to “Have Fun” with this course and I loved every minute of it.

The tomato was beautiful and I could easily have finished a second piece of the focaccia bread to soak up all of the amazing tomato vinaigrette as it was just so good but my favourite was the tomato water as I could happily drink that every day. It truly played tricks on your mind as it was clear in colour yet tasted of the freshest tomatoes you have ever known!

My next course was “Gnocchi” with a vin jaune sauce that was added table side. Gnocchi has always been one of my favourite foods so this dish did not disappoint in any way.

The following course that was served to me was “Celeri” which was celery served with chestnut shavings and a vermouth sauce. The only issue was that I absolutely hate celery with a passion and avoid it at all costs. However in the last year I have tried other foods that I have never liked before (such as tuna, avocado and salmon) which I now cannot get enough of so I was willing to keep an open mind and to at least try it.

Well I absolutely loved it and ate every single bite of it and I savoured every mouthful! It did not have the normal taste and consistency that celery usually has which helped a lot – I would happily eat that dish over and over again but I still have no desire to ever eat normal celery!

My final dinner course was “Cauliflower” which was roasted in Lebanese spices and served with cauliflower puree and a Barolo vinegar. It was so mouthwateringly good and was cooked perfectly and was my favourite course of the evening.

After several courses of incredible food, the cheese trolley arrived at our table. Both of us love cheese and we were served a selection of every cheese they had to offer along with dried fruit and honey. We both tried each cheese at the same time and then spent a few minutes discussing the different flavours and what we liked about each one. As suggested we finished with the strongest cheese last which was a Roquefort that tasted heavenly.

For our mignardises we were served a beautiful and light coffee caramel tartlet, some amazing lemon drops which tasted so fresh and had so much flavour as well as some pineapple pâte de fruits and matcha tea and bergamot chocolates. Even though you are getting extremely full at this point, you still have a dessert course to come – there is absolutely no way you could ever leave Enchanté hungry!

After having gold cutlery placed on the table, we were presented with our dessert which was “Chocolat” consisting of a Louis XV with gold leaf as well as chocolate ice cream served with pieces of praline and Valrhona chocolate and a chocolate foam. This dessert was just incredible and the perfect way to end our meal.

The whole evening had simply flown by (we were there just over three hours) and we finished our meal with a much needed jasmine tea. Dining at Enchanté had exceeded all of our expectations and as a result, we were even more excited to return the following afternoon for the Enchanté Dessert Experience.

The Passion dinner menu at Enchanté is currently an upcharge of $125 per person before adding any additional drinks or wine pairings to the bill. So is dining at Enchanté worth it? No it is not cheap but the answer will be different for everyone.

If you enjoy carefully prepared and impeccably presented food served in a wonderful atmosphere with incredible service, ambiance, detail and the experience of a three Michelin-starred menu, then like us, you will absolutely love it. This is something that both of us enjoy and look forward to whenever we travel so for us, it was definitely worth it. If you were to dine at L’Assisette Champenoise or another three Michelin-starred restaurant on land it would cost a lot more so dining at Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement onboard the Disney Wish is incredible value.

However if you place value on things and not experiences then I would not recommend dining at Enchanté as you will not be able to see the price without thinking of what else you could get for the exact same money. I would also not recommend Enchanté if you are a fussy eater or have a simple palate or just like plain food as you will not appreciate the menu or the different and subtle nuances in each of the courses and the way they are prepared.

Enchanté is truly a special place and photos and words do not even begin to do it justice. It is an amazing restaurant on a beautiful ship and a small piece of heaven compared to the noisy and crowded main dining rooms a few decks below – I cannot wait to see what the Disney Treasure brings when she sets sail as we will definitely be booking! I will remember my incredible dinner at Enchanté for a long time.
